Decision making, Advice disclaimer

Be assured that all the decisions made during a decluttering session are yours. We are very happy to give advice and help but it is your decision whether these ideas are implemented. The decision is always yours as to whether you keep or discard an item. We will help you to reuse, re-purpose, recycle wherever possible or you may choose to sell or auction your items.

Confidentiality

The Space Maker provides a confidential and discrete service, and we will never divulge information to third parties without your consent except for our own personal safety; our families will know where we are at all times via our own private shared calendars which will include your address.

The Space Maker complies with all relevant legislation. By entering into a contract with The Space Maker, you agree that your details will be held securely, to be used only in connection with the services carried out by The Space Maker. We may ask you to consider giving The Space Maker a testimonial for the website, which can be anonymous. These help others thinking about decluttering trust the service as it may be something they are considering for the first time. We may also ask to take before and after photographs and, with your consent, use for advertising purposes.

Payment & Cancellations

For in person sessions, the charge is £45.00 per hour, a minimum booking of 3 hours is required for a usual organising and decluttering session but if this feels too long or too short for you, we can make alternative arrangements.

For co-working sessions, where we sit with you, to keep you focused and on task and motivated, the charge is £35.00 per hour. This is normally used where paperwork sorting and admin is involved. We too can work at the same time.

For Virtual (Zoom) sessions, the charge is £30.00 per hour. Prior to every new undertaking, we will require a deposit of our minimum charge per organiser, per session which is three hours. This is due 7 days in advance to secure time in the diary. The balance of your session fees will be invoiced at the end of the week that we visit and should be settled on receipt of invoice. Recommendations

If required, we can recommend other products or services by third parties but The Space Maker cannot be held responsible or liable for their performance or any direct or consequential loss or damage. As The Space Maker is not a valuer of art or other items of special value or rarity, clients are advised to seek their own valuations of any items.

Limits of work

In the process of organising and decluttering, we will clean as we go but The Space Maker is not a cleaning company. Our time will mainly be spent organising and decluttering your space. We are fine to help you move smaller items of furniture but, for our own safety and well-being, we cannot move large, very heavy items. If you have things like this in your house that are likely to require moving it’s a good idea to have willing helpers on hand or, between us, we can find someone to help.

Removal and Recycling

Items to be removed from your premises either for recycling, disposal, donating or to other locations will be done at your own discretion and by yourself unless we make specific alternative arrangements. The client is responsible for any items disposed of in the decluttering process.

Access, Pets and Small Children

Please ensure good access immediately outside your home.

Should the working area be considered unsafe, The Space Maker reserves the right to cancel the session without refund.

It is preferable for pets and small children to be out of the way if possible, this is mostly for their comfort and safety but also so that we can make the best use of our time without distractions.

Disclaimer

Advice is given in good faith. It is always the client's decision whether or not to follow any advice which is given. The Space Maker can thus accept no responsibility for actions the client takes based on that advice or encouragement or their consequences whether at the time of consultation, engagement in the organising or decluttering process, or at any subsequent or future date following any engagement or consultation.

The Space Maker always handles items with care. In the case of accidental damage or loss, however caused, the client agrees that The Space Maker is not held liable for losses or damage caused during their engagement.

If access to your home or premises is restricted or unsafe, The Space Maker reserves the right to charge for lost time and expenses incurred. You have a duty of care to ensure that your premises are safe to work in, and you agree to disclose any circumstances that may put The Space Maker or their representative at risk as soon as you are aware of such circumstances.

Working Hours & Breaks

An initial consultation can be by telephone , is free of charge and usually lasts around 20 minutes. However, we prefer to visit in person to local addresses or we can arrange to meet at another location if you would prefer, prior to letting us in to your home or office. In person consultations are also free of charge and we normally do these visits at the weekends or in the evenings.

At the beginning of each session, we will confirm ow many hours you would like to work that day (bearing in mind the minimum of three hours). When sessions last more than 2 hours we will take a 15 minute break every 90 mins or so. Lunch is never expected but always welcome.

When doing decluttering with you, you must always be available, and we should not be left alone in the house. You may not be required 100% of the time but we may need you for decision making and any questions. We will always work with you at your own pace and this can be physically and emotionally demanding.

Photography

The Space Maker might use before and after photographs to support a client's organisation journey.

These photographs are the property of The Space Maker, and we might use these photographs as example of our work, and to inspire others on this website and on social media platforms. Photographs are always anonymised; the client cannot be identified through them, except if we have received your permission to do so.
